A huge congratulations to our Champions Unlimited High School Team, who went 4-0 versus Slovenia U20 in Match 1 and 0-3 versus Slovenia U20 in Match 2 yesterday! We will continue the journey for improvement today!
What makes this result even more exciting is how they won. Our athletes are fully committing to the Champions Unlimited philosophy—developing a serve receive system built on early platforms, efficient footwork, clear communication, and confidence on first contact. Defensively, they continue to master our block-defense systems by taking away an opponent’s strengths, trusting their assignments, communicating relentlessly, and turning defensive touches into transition scoring opportunities. Every day they’re becoming smarter volleyball players by understanding rotations, reading attackers, making better decisions under pressure, and learning that great team volleyball is built on discipline, consistency, and trust.
A tremendous amount of credit goes to Head Coach Tim Johnson—the former Republic of Ireland Head Coach and current coach at Santiago Valley Community College—and four-time Olympian Dave Smith, whose leadership, teaching, and commitment to player development have accelerated this group’s growth. Their ability to challenge these athletes while creating a positive, competitive learning environment is helping build confident players who understand what it means to compete at a championship level.
