BEYOND THE COURT: AN EVENING IN SLOVENIA 🇸🇮

An Evening of Friendship, Culture & Slovenian Wine

One of the highlights of the week took place away from the volleyball court, as parents, coaches, and team leaders gathered for an unforgettable evening in the beautiful rolling hills outside Maribor. Set among vineyards overlooking the Slovenian countryside, we enjoyed a private wine tasting that celebrated not only the region’s rich winemaking tradition but also the friendships that international sport creates.

The evening brought together an incredible mix of people from around the world. Coaches and parents from Champions Unlimited, Pinnacle Volleyball Club (England), the England National Team, and the Israeli National Team shared stories, laughed together, and reflected on the tournament while sampling a variety of locally produced Slovenian wines. Despite coming from different countries and speaking different languages, volleyball proved once again to be a universal language that connects people through a shared passion for the game.

As the sun began to set over the vineyards, the breathtaking scenery reminded everyone why international travel is such an important part of the Champions Unlimited experience. While our athletes were growing on the court, the adults were building friendships and relationships that extended far beyond the competition. Conversations ranged from coaching philosophies and player development to family, culture, and future collaborations.

Experiences like this are what make Champions Unlimited much more than a volleyball tour. They create opportunities for athletes, parents, and coaches to immerse themselves in the local culture, build lifelong friendships, and return home with memories that extend far beyond the final score. It was a perfect evening to slow down, appreciate the beauty of Slovenia, and celebrate the international volleyball community that had come together for an incredible week.

“Some of the most meaningful moments of this journey didn’t happen inside the gym—they happened around a table, overlooking the vineyards, where strangers became friends and volleyball brought the world a little closer together.”
